CYDE Foundation launches as a think tank
CYDE Foundation is a nonprofit association based in Casablanca, Morocco, registered in October 2026. Its goal is to become a think tank that produces independent research and analysis on climate, youth, digital innovation and energy, and to turn that knowledge into practical action.
Why we started
Morocco and the African continent have a great deal at stake in climate and energy, and a young population that will carry the transition. We saw a need for local organisations that can offer evidence, test ideas on the ground and open a place for young people in the discussion. We decided to build one.
Four pillars
Our climate pillar covers adaptation, resilience and climate policy in Morocco and Africa. The youth pillar is about skills, voice and leadership for young people. The digital pillar looks at how data and digital tools can serve sustainability and inclusion. The energy pillar covers efficiency, renewable energy and access to affordable power.
How we want to work
We combine research with practical initiatives. Research tells us what matters, projects test it with real people, and what we learn goes back into the research. We hold ourselves to four principles: credibility, independence, integrity and transparency. They are written out on our Governance & Transparency page.
Where we are today
We are at the beginning. We have a registered association, partner organisations, a small team and a plan for our first youth activities. We have not yet published research. Our first programmes and publications are in preparation, and we will announce them here.
