Short answers about CYDE Foundation, how we work and how to get involved. If your question is not here, write to us. This think tank FAQ answers the questions we hear most often about CYDE Foundation.
What is CYDE Foundation?
CYDE Foundation is a nonprofit association based in Casablanca, Morocco. It was registered in October 2026 and is working to become a think tank on climate, youth, digital innovation and energy in Morocco and Africa.
What is a think tank?
A think tank is an organisation that researches public issues and shares its analysis to inform decisions by governments, businesses and citizens. Its value depends on how much people trust its work, which is why we publish our methods, sources and funding.
Why does CYDE combine research with action?
We want our research to lead to something people can do, and we want what we learn from projects to feed back into the next study. A study with no path to action is easy to ignore, and a project with no evidence behind it is hard to justify.
What are the four pillars?
Climate, Youth, Digital and Energy. Each pillar has its own page on this site with the questions we work on.
What does the climate pillar cover?
It covers adaptation to heat, drought and water stress, climate education and evidence for local decision makers, in Morocco and across Africa.
What does the youth pillar cover?
It covers skills, jobs, participation and leadership for young people. Its first concrete step is the youth programme.
What does the digital pillar cover?
It looks at how data and digital tools help people understand and reduce their environmental footprint, and which digital skills young people need for green jobs.
What does the energy pillar cover?
It covers energy efficiency, solar and other renewables, access to affordable energy and the policies that shape energy projects.
Where does CYDE Foundation work?
We are based in Casablanca and focus on Morocco and the rest of Africa.
Is CYDE Foundation a registered organisation?
Yes. It is a nonprofit association registered in Morocco in October 2026.
Has CYDE Foundation published research yet?
Not yet. The association is new and its first publications are in preparation. They will appear on the Research and Publications page with their dates, authors and sources.
How is a CYDE study produced?
We define a question, collect sources, analyse the material, write for decision makers, have the draft reviewed by someone outside the author team and publish it with its method and sources. Corrections are published openly.
How is CYDE Foundation funded?
We do not collect donations online. Support from partners and funders is discussed directly and recorded. We will publish who supports each project or publication, and we do not accept funds that would limit our independence.
How do you protect your independence?
No funder or partner decides what our findings say. We declare conflicts of interest, list our supporters and publish corrections when we make mistakes.
Does CYDE Foundation support political parties?
No. We analyse public issues and make recommendations based on evidence. We do not support parties or candidates.
How can a young person take part?
Read the Youth Programme page and write to us to register your interest. Registrations will be announced on this site and on our social channels.
Does the youth programme cost anything?
We will state the conditions in each announcement. Dates and conditions have not been published yet.
Can I volunteer?
Yes. Send a short message saying who you are, which pillar interests you and how much time you can give. The Get Involved page explains what to include.
Can students work with CYDE on a thesis or a project?
You can base a project on one of our questions. We cannot promise supervision, but we can discuss your topic, point you to sources and review your results where it is useful.
