Acting Together for a Climate-Resilient Future

The climate crisis is no longer a distant threat — it is a present-day reality impacting millions across Africa, especially the most vulnerable communities. From extreme droughts to floods, rising temperatures, and food insecurity, the consequences of climate change are intensifying. Yet, amidst this urgency lies a powerful opportunity: the potential of youth to lead the transition toward a more just, inclusive, and climate-resilient future.

At CYDE Foundation, we believe that young people are not just victims of the climate crisis — they are catalysts for solutions. Our Climate Pillar was created to equip youth with the knowledge, tools, and platforms to lead climate action at the local, national, and global levels. We champion a new model of climate leadership — one that is rooted in education, grassroots action, technological innovation, and policy influence.

By working with schools, communities, researchers, and decision-makers, we co-build a climate movement that is youth-led, locally informed, and globally connected. Whether it's through planting trees, advocating for policy change, or launching eco-innovations, the young leaders we support are already shaping the future. Our mission is clear: to ensure that Africa’s path to development is also a path to climate justice, sustainability, and resilience. Together, we are turning awareness into action, and action into lasting impact.

Our Climate Strategy: From Awareness to Impact

Climate Education & Advocacy

Building a climate-resilient future begins with knowledge. At CYDE Foundation, we believe that climate education is the foundation of climate action. Without a deep understanding of environmental challenges, their root causes, and possible solutions, it is impossible to mobilize the scale of change our planet urgently needs. That’s why we prioritize climate literacy and environmental awareness as a core strategy to empower the next generation of changemakers.

Our educational programs target youth in both urban and rural communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the climate conversation. Through interactive workshops, school-based campaigns, community dialogues, digital courses, and climate clubs, we demystify climate science and foster a sense of ownership among young people. Our approach is participatory and culturally relevant, connecting global climate issues to local realities in African contexts.

In parallel, our climate advocacy efforts aim to elevate youth voices in decision-making spaces. We train young climate advocates to participate in public debates, national climate policies, COP negotiations, and community consultations. We help them develop the confidence, tools, and data they need to influence climate policy and institutional frameworks at all levels. From the classroom to the conference hall, CYDE Foundation creates a continuum where education fuels engagement, and where young people become credible voices for climate justice.

Community-Based Climate Projects

At CYDE Foundation, we believe that the most impactful climate solutions are those that are rooted in communities. That’s why we design and support local, youth-led climate projects that directly respond to the specific environmental challenges faced by communities across Africa. These initiatives are more than just pilot actions — they are living laboratories where innovation, inclusion, and impact meet.

Our community-based climate projects span a wide range of sectors: from urban greening and reforestation, to waste management and composting, to rainwater harvesting and clean cookstove distribution. Each initiative is driven by young people who live in, understand, and care deeply about their communities. They receive the training, technical assistance, and micro-grants they need to design, implement, and scale impactful solutions that build local resilience.

We also promote intergenerational knowledge sharing, working alongside elders, farmers, local authorities, and civil society to ensure that projects are culturally grounded and environmentally sustainable. Our goal is to transform communities into hubs of climate innovation, where young people are not only solving problems but also creating green jobs and inspiring others.
